Monday just got tougher

If anybody thought the Green Bay Packers 5-1 start gave them the inside track to the NFC North Division title they are sorely mistaken, more than likely they are also mistaken about the team that will be challenging the Packers for that title. The Detroit Lions stuck a fork in the Chicago Bears today by beating the defending division and conference champions in Chicago and ending any hope of Chicago making the playoffs, in all likelihood. The Lions are looking better and better each week. The Packers need to look good tomorrow night and beat the Broncos to remain in first place all alone. A tough task indeed.

What the Lions lack on defense they make up for with a balanced and explosive offense. The Packers have a good defense and a very unbalanced offense. It will be a very interesting race and the Lions have the easier schedule. If the Packers can keep pace and beat them the two times they play them, the Packers should win the division, but keeping pace is going to be the hard part. I’m sorry, but I have to say it as I feel it and I think the Packers lose tomorrow night. I can see a good defensive effort wasted by a turnover-prone offense. The Packers have fumbled at an alarming pace the last few weeks and lucked out twice. They won’t get so lucking against Denver.

Every prediction comes with an if, and my if is if Brett Favre throws no interceptions and for about 300 yards, the Packers win. If not, Broncos 24, Packers 13.

I will disagree with you. Last Sunday night, the Steelers passing attack lit up Denver, and if it weren’t for big bens 2 picks(ok, good defense there), then they would have surely won the game. Denver has wont there 3 games by 3 fieldgoals. I think that coming off of the bye week, Favre will light up that secondary. i say packers win in a blowout. 42-7 and Favre gets 5 tds.

Jeepers sketchers on popsicle sticks! I’d love to see that. I say the Pack cleans it up and wins a nail-biter on a big play – interception return, kick return, or critical fumble. Be patient, #4. You don’t have to win it all by yourself. Just don’t lose it.

When Al gets pessimistic that’s usually a good sign. The Packers find a ground game. I’m going way out on a limb here, and the Pack wins 28 to 10.

I agree that we are in a tight race with Detroit.

I’m not even going to try to predict a score but I think it’s going to be close game tonight. Green Bay has the worst running game facing off against Denvers worst run defense. Kind of funny but we will should have a more balanced offense at least for tonights game. There is just something I don’t like about going to Denver but the Pack is in better hands with Mcarthy on the road at tough stadiums. Maybe we still need to get out of Sherman mode. The Pack is pretty successful on the road with Mccarthy.

Should be a good one. Who has the better coaches? It’s a battle of 2 defenses that play the same defense (Bates taught Sanders). Both offensive lines run the zone blocking scheme. (Again, Denver has the teacher, GB has the pupil). Did the teacher keep a few tricks up their sleeve, or has the pupil learned some tricks from other coaches?

If Packers avoid the turnovers, it looks good. That’s a big if considering every team is now trying to strip the ball since the Vikings found a weakness.

    Hoping for a victory.

P.S. After watching Patriots humiliate another opponent, can’t help but wonder what the Packers would look like with Moss.

If the Packers had Moss, they would be the top contender in the NFC and the Patriots would be less dominant although most likely top seed in AFC. This was a huge management error to miss out on Moss and could have been an error of the magnitude of having missed out on Favre or Reggie White in the 1990s. In other words, this was the kind of decision that could have had repercussions for another 10 years. Favre was publicly outraged at TT for this and appears to have been right. It is hard to say if Moss would have been as dominant without Brady/Bellichick and all the talent around him in NE but no doubt would have a major impact (and pissed off the Vikings fans even more which alone would have been worth it.)

It’s nice to think what would of been with Moss in Green Bay. Reality sets in and tells me that Moss never wanted to come to Green Bay and he was only using us as a bargaining chip to drive his stock up. If New England would of passed I’m sure he might of come here tho. I mean who would you pick if you had a choice between Green Bay and New England? It’s pretty obvious.
