If Brett Favre steps one foot on the Green Bay Packers’ practice field, I am done. Because if Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy allow that to happen they might as well go ahead and get the surgery, because they are not men.
Also, I will have two season tickets to sell. Here I was looking forward to a Super Bowl season and now I’m stuck with a graybeard who was never that good to begin with. Who would have thought that one of the most popular players in Packers’ history could turn me against the team in such a manner? I hope they lose every game this year.
This is Packernet signing out.

You’ve my email, Al. I’m interested in the tickets…no matter WHO is the starting QB. I relish every opportunity to watch football at Lambeau Field.
I notice the stands have been cleared at Family Night for a storm is threatening Green Bay. Harbinger or coincidence?
Wow. Once you’re done crying about this tonight, you should consider ‘the surgery’ as well. Should I make the check for the season tickets out to Mr. or Miss Been Glad to Know You?
Oh, Al. You sure have a flare for the dramatic and hyperbole. Your initial reaction is understandable, but like it or not, Brett Favre is unique to the Green Bay Packers and maybe all of professional football. Because of that, he presents unique issuess the resolution of which require a certain amount of flexibility. Packer Nation was recently almost evenly divided between supporting Favre’s return and bidding him a fond adieu, and the debate was not very friendly. I rather like this resolution, as baby splits go. It allows Farve the chance to prove he still has it, allows the kid (Aaron Rodgers) the chance to knock the veteran out of his starting spot, allows the team to move forward with camp and silences the many fans who were demanding TT’s and MM’s heads on a a platter for not accommodating Brett’s internationally famous retirement flip-flop much sooner. The machinery of life can now crank up and move toward, producing whatever it will in due course. And best of all, we get to watch it all play out in living color. Al, your uncompromising excellence in running this fine web site has made your site popular and, I hope, you very successful. But we all have to compromise from time to time, and now is a time when you might reflect on these recent events and trust TT and MM to know what they are doing in accepting Brett back onto the team. You did NOT want to see Brett in a purple uni, even if his post-season production has been somewhat wanting in recent years. If he completes that pass over Driver’s outside shoulder, instead of throwing that INT against NY, the Pack would have been in the Super Bowl last year. That, and his playing through the pain and adversiy through all these years, probably earns him the benefit of our shared considerable doubt about whether he really should still be leading this team’s offense now. Doesn’t it? Let’s trust TT, MM, Brett and the football gods to sort this out over the next couple of months. A wise man is open to reconsidering his position, particularly one driven by his emotions. Things are way too interesting to quit NOW!
Wishing the Packers to lose and bailing out on the team as a fan is something I might expect out of a Vikings fan, but never a true Packer fan. I’ll chalk this up as an emotional over reaction.
I wanted Favre to stay retired. I thought that was best for him and for the Packers. I still do. I just hope McCarthy keeps him on a short leash. If Favre beats out Rodgers for the starting job, then I’ll pull for him. The second he screws up, I’ll be shouting for Rodgers to be under center.
Brett’s back. Yee-haw.
Good Lord, this is a football team. May the best athlete start for us, and if that turns you into a Vikqueens fan, you weren’t one of us to begin with.
Ultimately, Go Pack.
Reesh.
CheesyD,
That’s where you have it wrong… Al is not a true packers fan…
Wah… I want Aaron Rodgers…
Wah… your man love TT might become a girl if he has that surgery and u wont want him anymore Al..
Go Pack
LOL, Al, calm down. I agree with you on the whole Favre saga. And I don’t think Favre is so bigger than life that he can do whatever, whenever. I mean, as good as he his, he isn’t as good as Montana, Elway, and the like. If he was, so many of our playoff hopes wouldn’t be ended at his hands. Brady rarely makes that crucial mistake. A QB is only as good as what he can do in the playoffs/SB, the regular season doesn’t come with any prizes.
The bottom line is, the Packers haven’t gotten a good trade yet. Period. Brett is entitled to certain rights, and they can’t deny him that. Until they get a trade or keep him retired, that’s the hand they’re deal. And Favre has been a distraction, but I have to question how much you were EVER a fan to be so spiteful. Chill out, dude, this will work itself out in a week. Call me and take two aspirins.
I’ll tell you one thing, I am SOOOOO excited to see Aaron Rodgers play soon!
Al,
I’m open for a bidding war for the season tickets if you want to sell them. I think you’re being way over the top, though!
Al, please contact me immediately with the ticket information.
Thank you
My question is: Why did this take such a ridiculously long time to settle? A bigger question might be…What happens if (gulp) Favre and Rodgers both fail to produce?
Hopefully they both will play great in the preseason to force a tough decision. I just hope the decision hasn’t already been made.
Al is all talk…. he wont get rid of his tickets and you guys know it…
Brett Favre IS green bay. He IS the packers.
For them not to welcome him back is a slap in the face of history. You’re trying to tell me that their 3 time mvp hall a famer qb can’t pick up what he’s missed in time for the season?
Please. They are making a huge mistake.
P.s. Rogers has looked REALLY good at the scrimmage. ?
Brett Favre is not the Green Bay Packers.
He was a Green Bay Packer. Now he is a New York Jet. And we all know the New York Jets are not the Green Bay Packers.
Here is to Ted Thompson doing a good job managing my team!
Lance,
We all said the same thing about Mike Sherman (Head Coach/GM) until a couple of playoffs changed our minds. Time will tell if they did the right thing.
