First half looking good, 21-3

Still 30 minutes of football to play, if this is what we are going to get from Aaron Rodgers all year, life will be good for the Green Bay Packers. Yes, it is the Lions, but it is on the road in a city the Packers have a bad history in. Rodgers was pretty much unstoppable in the first half, going 16-20 for 210 yards and three touchdowns.

Let’s keep it up in the second half and not let the Lions get life.

McCarthy is good in all phases of coaching except when his initial gameplan has been stopped. Clearly the Lions were not going to allow another 300 yard rushing performance, he should have go Belichek on them and stepped on their throats.
This conservatism with a lead must go! Deep to Jennings till they stop it which would be never.
Charles Woodson must feel like he is a Wolverine again!

Conservative game calling has to go out the Window

  • TRIP

Good point, that conservative play calling is keeping opponents in the game. Good to see Jordy Nelson, as I asked for!

    what an end!

Woodson turned it around for the team!!!!!!!!!!!!

    TRIP… “Rodgers Passed this test”

He didn’t look look that great most of the second half…. against the lions… the game could have gone the other way pretty easy.

It was a win.. but the defense put this game away….

  • Jeff

Rodgers looked good – Yeah, we let them back into it, and that was not all Rodgers’s fault. Dropped passes, conservative calls, defense getting sloppy.

Even after that though, Rodgers showed some fire. The short completion and long Jennings run was as much of a swing point as the first Woodson pick if you ask me.

Nice to see a little burst from Jackson on a few plays. Run blocking still seems shakey – at times, things look really good, but we’re getting just stonewalled far too often. Pass blocking was good most of the time – notable exception for the penalties.

Another exiting game. Hats off to Jennings, Rodgers(mobility and coming back with a go ahead drive in the 4Q), pass blocking, and Woodson. Big test next week.

next week is gonna determine who’s the top dog in the NFC.

That’s assuming Dallas beats Philly tomorrow.

  • TRIP

Stomps, the Packers let them get back in it, but individually, Rodgers played well and kept it together at the end. And on the flipside, did Rodgers fail? Surely not, he passed this test.

  • stomps

TRIP… look a few posts up.. I said Rodgers stayed in control… There is alot more to being a NFL quarterback than beating the Lions and the Vikes… but it’s a good start…

  • zach

there is also a lot more to being a qb than beating the fins.

Aaron Rodger’s stats for the first two games…

    2 wins, 0 losses
42 completions out of 60 attempts (.700 percentage)
    506 yards
    4 touchdowns
    0 interceptions
    1 sack
    117.8 QB rating

Wow. If he keeps this up, he’s in the Pro-Bowl for sure.

Good call Ted Thomas and Mike McCarthy!
