Run to win

Three words. Run to win. The Green Bay Packers won three Super Bowls using those three words. If they are going to win today against Carolina in Lambeau Field they better go back to their roots and give the ball to running back Ryan Grant and let him carry the day. The Packers need to keep the ball out of the Panthers’ hands, control the clock and on defense get off the field on third down. A simple plan, right? If only it would sink into the thick skull of head coach Mike McCarthy. If the Packers commit to the run today they win 27-17, if McCarthy comes out passing again the Packers lose 31-10. We will know on the Packers’ first offensive series how this game is going to play out.

Lets hope McCarthy comes to his senses today.

    It looks like it’s a great day for Ryan Grant to get thirty carries! Once they establish the run, the play action pass works to perfection and the Packers look like a juggernaut! It sounds great on paper…

    I think the key to your synopsis is “defense gets off the field on third down”. In the immortal words of Chuck Barkley, my Grandmama could drop 30 points on them (if they play like last Monday). Let’s hope they get it together…

    Frosts crappy punting is contributing to pack losses because of the terrible starting field position. TT must fire him after this game. If he doesn’t then it is obvious that TT won’t admit he makes mistakes as a GM.

    Maybe TT keeps frost becuase he is the only one that can hold the ball for crosby to kick field goals. If so that is pathetic.

    Once again our special teams are killing us all around… nothing like giving the opposing team excellent field position every time they receive the ball from us.

    Getting a little sick of playing from behind the entire game… I understand these guys have a really good record, but I was really hoping for a good showing today… Doesn’t look like I’ll be getting my Holiday wish this week.

    MM has lost complete control of this team. No consistency and no heart. TT can’t seem to get personnel to upgrade this team and MM can’t coach em up.

    It also doesn’t help that the ball is bouncing the other way today – that fumble recovery was pure luck on their part… nothing you can do when luck is on your side, regardless of what the Management does – I think you’re being a little over dramatic there GPG.

    We can still move the ball and it’s not like this team is a slouch, they’ve beat some pretty good teams to get to their current record. We need to shore up the DL and the special teams, they seem to be killing us the worst here. The OL is doing better today opening up holes for Grant once again, as long as MM doesn’t abandon it altogether.

    And I think Brandon Jackson is getting better as well. Love the stiff arm… Guess we need to just keep up on the scoring side of things since the DL can’t stop the run.

    WTF do they do all week? How about a pass play of more than 7 yds! How about something different than the straight backwards pitch play! This is absolutely pathetic! Nice job of prep MM! This looks like a Rhodes team.

    Those two plays directly account for 14 Panther points. I played very low level HS football in Iowa and we did one drill in every practice session that focused on covering fumbles. Pathetic that these pros don’t understand situations better than a HS sophomore!

    IMO, A.J. Hawk has now shed the “underperforming” label and gone straight to SUCKS. If he doesn’t take the wrong angle to a play, he’s easily pushed off to the side. I hope they run that play where he got BLOWN UP by the FB on an endless loop in the clubhouse all week. If he can’t play with heart, he should be embarrassed!

    iccyfan – AJ is still injured. Many coaches teach the D to try to scoop fumbles and the O to cover them. I doubt they spend any time with Rodgers on this, tho.
