Packers must get a win today

The Green Bay Packers are facing playoff elimination today at frigid Lambeau Field, it likely won’t even be 10 degrees by kickoff, and they are facing a warm weather team in the Houston Texans. The Packers have everything in their favor today, so if they lose this game it will be devastating to the franchise.  If  head coach Mike McCarthy can’t get his team up for this something is wrong. While I do see the Packers winning, but we know this season anything is possible. The Packers have lost seven of their last ten games after a 2-0 start and most of the losses have been close and excruciatingly painful. I’m hoping the Packers can ease some of that pain with a big win today over Houston.

I think they do just that. Aaron Rodgers sounded like a guy looking forward to playing in the cold and that attitude should carry over to his offensive teammates at least. Look for the quick start the Packers need and fairly easy win – Packers 27, Texans 13.

great job today defense, you suck. coaches suck. offense sucks. special teams suck. you all suck!!!! its the HUSTON ******* TEXANS AT HOME IN THE COLD!!!!! WOW!!!!! pathetic.

  • dd

    this game is over

  • gopackgo

Ted thompson and mccarhy have drove this team into the ground. Worst managment combo ever

  • dd

I thought we could win this game we tied it up we had a chance to win

  • CheesyD

Fire Sanders today. He is pathetic. No pass rush, can’t stop the run, can’t stop a crippled Matt Stinking Schaub for crying out loud.

Keep Rodgers, the receiving corps, and maybe the new punter. Everyone else can go.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

How about the phamtom holding call on Moll on the last drive???????????? I think the NFL has directed the officials to make a satement……… It wasn’t like it was even close……….. If I were McCarthy I’d refuse to bring my team out next week. Personally, I’d take the hit. It wasnt’ even close!!!

Well, if we had the equivalent of a high school defense we would have won – thompson and mccarthy totally drove this defense into the ground, no question about it – i will give them one more year but bob sanders better get a one-way ticket out of town and and a kick-in-the-ass to boot. The season is now over, the Packers are playing for pride and because of mccarthy I don’t think they win another game. He is a horrible coach and has surrounded himself with horrible coaches. An easy schedule and a hall of fame quarterback got him and thompson contract extensions. Amazing. I think Thompson is still the real deal, I think McCarthy is in way over his head. Aaron Rodgers has given the Packers the same if not better numbers at quarterback as last year, but Rodgers is playing up hill every game because of the Packers horrible defense. As bad as the defense is, I doubt recovery will come for a three or four years at least, and that depends on whether or not there is a leadership change. If I am Aaron Rodgers I am kicking myself for signing a long-term contract with a team that is not capable of winning in the near future. Where is Lindy Infante when you need him?

  • CheesyD

Agree about the refs… they were awful, and one-sided today. Just terrible calls all day long. But even with that, the Packers didn’t deserve this game… no defense at all. Pathetic.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

I’d cancel the game and bring attention to that bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What’s the worst that can happen???????

  • http://www.packernet.com admin

Certainly the worst defense I’ve seen the Packers play since 1983. Rodgers is just like Dickey, great QB on a team with a horrible defense. No chance to win.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

I could write a thesis on what I saw this game……………. I’d offer a contract to Cowler……………… I don’t think it’s on TT. I don’t even think it’s the players anymore. Let MM get one of his big fat boobies out and start breast feeding his kid. This is a young team who is undercoached. I just don’t have the time or patience for what needs to be written………..

  • Michael Legat

    EVERYBODY IS ACCOUNTABLE TODAY!!

Don’t any one of us dare let others off of the hook by blaming this on Thompson, Rodgers, officials, etc. This stinks from top to bottom and can no longer be written off. Major changes need to occur and they start with the coordinators and position coaches. I’m tired of watching us tied or leading in the final minutes and being certain that we will find a way to lose.

  • dd

If i was rodgers i would try to get out of my contract with the packers

  • CheesyD

Yep, when McCarthy called that last timeout after the Texans gained five on 1st down, I knew we were going to lose. It’s so predictable. No wonder Schaub was shown grinning ear to ear.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

It’s time for DC to go………….. You’ve gotta teach your DB’s as DWR’s in today’s NFL. I haven’t seen MM call more than one trick play all year, he used to call about one a game, I think he’s into family life now…… Time to get out and take care of the family!

  • ms_cowboys

Management should have have kept the the HOF quarterback. He still had two good years in him. TT and MM should be catch the next train out of town.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

REFS SUCK REFS SUCK REFS SUCK Can’t believe thay needed a half minute on the intensional grounding, while pulling a totally bullshit holding call out of their ass at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Devil’s Advocate…

I can’t even include TT in this anymore…………… The coaching is so bad……….

  • Michael Legat

    ms_cowboys,

How about worrying about your own loser underachieving team?

  • Devil’s Advocate…

Michael Legat……… That holding call on the last Packer’s drive was fibricated….. There was nothing even close to holding……….. It’s just like the thieves, retards and stupids. What are YOU going to do about it…………… Same as usual, nothing because that’s all you can do about it……….

  • Devil’s Advocate…

I just wouldn’t feel bad about it…………. if their was anything close to holding, but there WASN’T!!!!! Not even close.

  • http://www.packernet.com admin

Forget the freakin’ holding call or the refs, this game was lost by the defense on the opening drive of the game. You can spin it all you want, for Rodgers to do what he has done this year with a defense as bad as the Packers have should get him votes for MVP.

  • Michael Legat

What do you want me to tell you, DA? The holding calls/lack thereof were galling, but we can’t stop anybody anyway.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

The Pack should make a move on Cowhler………….. That’s the F/A of the year. A good coach will get you close every year. Just look at Belicheat, no matter what, he has a team competing every year. COWHLER!!! I gave the benefit of the doubt to MM, but after the last few games it’s obvious for whatever reason, he can’t hold a 10 point lead w/2 min.’s left. Be that his DC, it’s still his.

  • Devil’s Advocate…

Let’s face it, even if the Pack were to win this one, even with all the crappy reffing, they aren’t good enough anyway, whoever you think sucks. The Vikings may have delayed their suspensions, but if they make the play-offs and they lose their front two during the play-offs, they’re done. That may have back-fired, cause they may lose them now when they need them most. And at the end, no one remembers who came in second, never mind who were in the play-offs….. Someone name all the teams in the play-offs in 1999 w/o looking it up…. rest my case. It ‘s an all or nothing league.

  • Doug R

One of the main problems is not sticking with run. Ball control and work off play action – when they do that offense looks great, they wear down d and keep our terrible d off field. On last drive after phantom hold why not run and stay in field goal range- instead they get sack

Every time they succeed with run next thing you know – empty backfield…

Does MM watch the games? What am I missing

Also, did anyone notice that the announcers were already talking like texans in fuels goal range when they were at pack 30 – that’s how obvious it was they were going to get down there

I would love a move for Cowher. The Chin in Green Bay, with a up-and-coming QB. What a combination that would be. I know the defense would be better after one practice. The Chin would never allow play like we saw today…
