Packers must get a win today

The Green Bay Packers are facing playoff elimination today at frigid Lambeau Field, it likely won’t even be 10 degrees by kickoff, and they are facing a warm weather team in the Houston Texans. The Packers have everything in their favor today, so if they lose this game it will be devastating to the franchise.  If  head coach Mike McCarthy can’t get his team up for this something is wrong. While I do see the Packers winning, but we know this season anything is possible. The Packers have lost seven of their last ten games after a 2-0 start and most of the losses have been close and excruciatingly painful. I’m hoping the Packers can ease some of that pain with a big win today over Houston.

I think they do just that. Aaron Rodgers sounded like a guy looking forward to playing in the cold and that attitude should carry over to his offensive teammates at least. Look for the quick start the Packers need and fairly easy win – Packers 27, Texans 13.

    I do not see the cold as a plus factor for a Pack win. Look at last years Bear game in Chi. At best a horrible scene. Did anyone forget that it was the cold that cost us a trip to
    AZ last Jan? While true it appeared that Favre had lost his ability to handle the cold, perhaps today’s game will be different with a different field general….

    Regardless of what the temperature is, this game is a must win. I don’t think the weather will be as much of a factor as most people think. Both teams are playing in it, and what it boils down to is the run game. If we can run the ball today, and stop the run, we will be in good shape. Get the play-fake into the picture and AR and the boys will get some decent points up there.

    The only thing that I am concerned with is our lack-luster defense. They need to step up today.

    Favre lost his ability to handle the cold? Toss me another meatball – we lost that game because our O-line has been inconsistent since the 2005 season, we’re not stopping the run or getting consistent pass pressure and until those little wrinkles get ironed out, this team doesn’t cut it against solid competition regardless of who’s taking snaps.

    The only thing we gain from winning today is a lower draft status which (given our GM’s mystical draft presence) doesn’t seem to matter much at all.

    Still, I’d rather see ‘em go out and kick butt – GO PACK!!

    There’s no way we lose to a very warm weather team like Houston on a Packers football weather day. Yeah, the Giants and Bears kicked our a__ in the cold last year, this is Houston.

    This wee, McCarthy admitted they have failed miserably on opening drives this year. He said they are going to focus on that today (only took 12 games to figure out they have stunk in the first quarter).

    This game feels just like before the Bears game. Coaches once again wake up and listen to the fans and media. Packers will score early and often today. With a rare early lead, the defense will cause a couple turnovers.

    Final score, Packers 38 (including 14 first quarter points), Texans 24.

    CBS has the worst telecasts on TV. Bad picture, announcers don’t know anything…..wow.

    I’m getting a little concerned that our Offense can’t seem to finish a drive. If Aaron can get his timing down a little bit our receivers aren’t having any trouble getting behind the Texans secondary… And once again, Tramon Williams comes through for us… this kid is awesome…

    We just don’t have the defense to stop other teams when it counts – we just don’t have it… I don’t know if it’s scheme, coaching, talent or what, but we just don’t have it… The Packers will have to ride Rodgers shoulders if they have any hope of winning this, or any, game remaining this season…

    I think its coaching and talent its time to get rid of some people I almost feel sorry for rodgers this is his 1st year starting and he only has maybe 4 people that shows up to play

    The reality is that the Texans are a better team then their record suggests… We might not be able to say the same thing considering the injury bug. At least we found ourselves a punter finally, probably shouldn’t have waited this long to make that change.
