Sorry about the downtime

Please accept my apologies for the problem we had with our hamsters (as Florio would say). The issue has been resolved and confidence is high it will never happen again. Rest assured Packernet is alive and well.

I would love to chime in on the latest news, but my self-imposed moratorium is still in effect until the situation is resolved one way or the other. You know me, though, it is damn hard to bite my tongue.

We are back though, and Packernet should be much faster than in the past. All is good.

More to come, and soon. Thanks a ton for sticking around. I am much obliged.

I do not post on the what I call “one liner” sites simply because of the lack of depth or true thought on them. At least, for the most part, OUR gang tries to support our relative positions with some logic if only logical in our own minds. I am no Techie so don’t know the limitations of edit. It occurs to me, however, that some kind of filters could be used to automatically delete the more offensive language. The benefit, of course, would be that some of our writers could learn to comment without the reference to the four letter words. Now that I have put myself into the category of Old Fogy I’ll finish by saying I think this is a great site and hope you keep up the good work……………!

  • Roy Jamison

Al, I’m not sure what happened but this site is always a pleasure to read. When folks resort to the four letter words, it doesn’t bother me, but it does show a certain level of education and lack of self respect.

The people who have to resort to swearing and calling people idiots will have their posts deleted. Show some respect. This is America, we are all are entitled to our own opinion.

  • packer_bob

Al, not sure what happened, but glad to see the site is back!

  • JeffN

Can’t wait until there is more football news to talk about, but yes it’s always great to be able to visit this site. And go go Al with deleting posts!!!

  • packer_bob

Whose posts got deleted and why?

Lewcille left a love note for Rocky that appears to have vanished…

I’m enjoying the OTA articles but there seems to be an inordinate amount of love being directed towards Jeremy Thompson. I hope he turns out to be the next “James Harrison” but I’d like to read about one of the other young players every other day!

  • Roy Jamison

Al, Thanks for the clarification and all you do. We can agree to disagree but name calling comes when your point of view runs out of reasoning.

  • Pack4life

It seems to be a trend that the media will harp on a rookie to generate “buzz”

Greg Jennings, James Jones and Kregg Lumpkin all fall in this category.

Hopefully Jeremy Thompson does for the defense what Jennings did for the offense.

  • Roy Jamison

When Clay Matthews returns to health, that buzz may become a soft hum.

“ESPN is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings are planning to send a trainer and a coach to Mississippi to work with Brett Favre.”

The plan is to have Favre throw a few passes to test his arm. They pretty much figure if Favre starts throwing to the ‘wrong’ person, he’s back to his old self & is at 100%.

It’s hard to argue with that logic.

  • Roy Jamison

Brett may have already thrown a lot of completions to purple jerseys while wearing a green one. I’ll have to doing some checking.
While I check, here’s an interesting NFL record the Pack holds:
Nine interceptions against Lions set NFL mark

Newspaper account of the game from the Hall’s archives

On October 24, 1943, the Green Bay Packers became the first team in National Football League history to intercept nine passes in a single game. The feat came against the Detroit Lions.

Rocky, you’re too much! Now wait for the assault from P_B

  • Rocky70

Michael Hunt from MJS on the BF Saga:

“Remember how he flew into Green Bay last summer in one of the most egocentric stunts ever pulled by a professional athlete. Remember how it was his intention all along to play for the Vikings after his first retirement. And remember how he began to distance himself from his teammates by dressing in a private chamber, away from the locker room.”

A good read on the ‘real’ BF. Especially for the apologists.

Rocky, I thought that was why the Packers, at their expense, took out his locker and carefully packaged and sent it to Kiln.

The Local Wisconsin media is too funny. They are trying to talk up Anthony Smith, and talk down Nick Collins. Anthony Smith may be a great interview. But before anyone annoints Mr. Smith just remember he is the genius that mouthed off publicly at the Patriots. Tom Brady went out of his way to torch him that game. He cant be the brightest bulb around.

  • Larry

Whoa, Pack4, he (Smith) has already atoned for that one by saying he’s learned his lesson and matured from the mistake. Give the guy a break. He seems like he wants a new start and at least a chance knowing already that we have two safeties that he’ll have a hard time beating out to start. One thing in his favor is that he can play either spot and also that Collins might be a little impressed by his (Collins) clippings from last year. There is no denying the media wants to stir the pudding for a column, but so far, I think Smith is trying to fit in here.
