Nothing to brag about, but not bad

The Green Bay Packers pitched a shutout in their debut of their new 3-4 defense and the first-team offense put up two touchdowns to lead the Packers to a 17-0 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked sharp and we got a glimpse of the big-play potential of this offense. Ryan Grant showed some of the quickness that he exhibited in his breakout season two years ago, even though rookie running back Tyrell Sutton stole the show in the second half. Sutton, the 5-8 back out of Northwestern looked great and may be staking a claim to a roster spot with his play in practice and now games. This year’s Mr. Augustit looks like.

The defense put some pressure on the Browns’ quarterbacks and snagged four interceptions picking up right where they left off last season at least in that department. The unit was without Al Harris and Charles Woodson also thin at linebacker due to injuries but still managed to keep the Browns off the scoreboard. The Browns aren’t exactly the Patriots but it was still good see some pressure on the QB for a change. I can’t wait to see them at full strength.

The Packers’ backup quarterbacks could only manage three points which was a little discouraging. Neither Matt Flynn nor Brian Brohm could get anything going other than a few plays here and there, Flynn more so than Brohm. I can’t see the Packers keeping Brohm around unless he improves dramatically the next three weeks.

Good to have Packers’ football back. I love the preseason.

You couldn’t stop defending BF not long ago. …

BF has no excuse & neither do the ‘apologists’. … It is what it is…. BF has proven himself to be exactly what solid PackFans have known for awhile now.

    Barnett also said this:

” Nick Barnett said today when told Farve will be a Viking ” Would I like to hit him? Hell yeah, I’d like to hit him.” Barnett said, turning to the camera. “I want to get a nice little shot on you, Brett. I said it. Put it on the bulletin board. ”

I’m happy to defend #4′s playing career in Green Bay. I believe he gave the team everything he could and the 4-12 was his best effort on a rotten team. He showed up every week and tried to win just like he was going for another title. As to his being a diva and getting too much press and adulation, I could care less. That said, his best isn’t good enough any more and he’ll probably dissappoint the Viking fans as much as he has dissappointed you. I can only assume you bought more of the press hype than most people and were therefore more dissappointed when he couldn’t win every game he played. Regardless of the lack of talent around him or poor coaching decisions that had been made.

I lived in MN for nearly 20 years and I am not shocked that they are low in Revenues. the Metrodome is a cookie cutter building with none of the revenue streams of modern facilities hence the decades long struggle for a new building. The Twins are getting a new stadium as well as the U of M so the Vikes feel its their turn. This team almost had a playoff game blacked out. Most Vikings fans dont know the 1st thing about football many of the blue collar population that would support football are hockey fans. HS football in MN is very poor. (I say this as someone who graduated HS in MN) Look at the College Football team pitiful. Viking fans are your Suburban fairweather crowd thats just the way it is. 1987 Herschel Walker trade worst move in NFL History (That move cost the Pack the Super Bowl in 95) Now this stunt.
    Week 3
should be very telling. SF 49ers and Patrick Willis found a way to shut down Peterson.
Cleve and Det will lull the Vikes into a false sense of security and then the reality of a 1st place schedule will kick in.
