Right tackle position getting worrisome

If the Packers have an Achilles Heel developing in training camp it might be right tackle. The loss of Mark Tauscher might be a little harder to fill than they thought. Allen Barbre was the offseason favorite but once the pads came on he started getting pushed around. Now Breno Giacomini is running with the ones more and more and the position is still way to unsettled for comfort. This was supposed to be figured out at least by the third preseason game and that is not likely to happen now.

The battle at center may not be decided by who does better but by the fact that Jason Spitz can play right guard at a high level and may be needed to provide help on the right side of the line. The five best will play and right now it looks like the weakest link is right tackle. I’m kind of hoping Giacomini will take control of the position as he has long term potential whereas Barbre has already blown numerous chances. My guess is Scott Wells at center and Spitz at guard and Breno at tackle. I was hoping T.J. Lang would make a move but I guess it is not to be.

At least it is not Aaron Rodgers blind side, but it is a big concern nonetheless.

Another way to look at draft picks is if you want to complain about TT drafting Brandon Jackson in the 2nd round you gotta give TT credit for acquiring Grant for a 6th round pick, Wynn for a 7th, Sutton undrafted.

Another way to look at it is if you want to complain about AJ Hawk being a 5th overall pick you gotta give TT credit for drafting Jennings in the 2nd he would have been worh a top 5 pick, and hell Rodgers would have been worth trading up to the top 5 or 10 to acquire him so you gotta give TT credit for drafting Rodgers with the 25th overall pick.

If you want to complain about Justin Harrell being a 1st rounder then you gotta give TT credit for acquiring Atari Bigby, and Tramon Williams as undrafted free agents. You also gotta give TT credit for drafting Collins in the 2nd round.

Truth is TT drafts so well in the later rounds he can afford to gamble with his higher draft picks.

Overall I’ll agree with Rocky. Instead of trying to add all this up maybe it is easier to just forget about where everyone was drafted and look at the overall depth of the team. I think we are doing pretty good and also TT and MM and might I add coach Capers are doing an excellent job.

AJ Hawk is going to end up having such a great year this year everyone just going to end up being quiet about where he was drafted anyway.

Your ignorance & trolling is a bore. …. Like I’ve said before, if you are going to rewrite everyone’s posts to fit your level of understanding, try some exercise. You know… take a hike. ……………

MEM …….. Evaluating any young QB in only his 2nd NFL TC only sets yourself up for later ‘eating crow.’ …. All QBs are on individual time-lines. …. Each is different.
Some research on the beginnings of some of the best QBs in the NFL might soften your outrageous comments. …. Extraordinary comments require extraordinary evidence.

I agree that Brohm is at about the same progress level as Rodgers was at the beginning of his 2nd year. I would advise not to throw a hissy fit yet about Brohm as some people are doing. Most QBs do take several years to develop. Flyn is actually an exception as he is developing way faster than most QBs would. And I don’t want to hear about Rothlisburger and Jon Ryan. Those guys are exceptions to the rule as well. You can’t expect every QB to be a superstar right off the bat. With Rodgers and Flyn being our guys we can afford to have Brohm sit back and develop.

Don’t be surprised when things don’t happen the way you expect them to guys. Also don’t be upset when the team get’s built in a different way than you want the brass to build it. Gotta let people do their jobs their way.

    @ JeffN

Glad to see someone understands my comment regarding the draft.
The draft is just organized chaos….. It’s the definition of a ‘crapshoot’….

    DD’s TD reception counted as 6 points……. R. Grant’s TD run counted as 6 points….. G. Jennings TD reception counted as 6 points….. You have a 7th, UDFA & a 3rd rounder. ……. All their scores still count as 6 points.

PB —- If you can’t understand this then please ask someone….. I’ll not dumb-down my posts for you anymore….. Sorry, but it is what it is.

You can always take a successful person and point out a mistake they made. There are mistakes that TT has made but he has been able to overcome the shortcomings. I would also give MM credit for overcoming the shortcomings. Getting rid of Sanders and hiring Capers is a prime example of how this organization had a shortcoming and overcame that. Very important staple of how to be successful.

Look, I agree that TT has had hits and misses, as is always going to be the case. In general, I think he’s done an OK job.

Just think it’s ridiculous to not recognize the big misses for what they are as well as giving credit he quite rightly should get for some of the later round steals.
