Packer-Lions Game Blog

11:40 AM:  Well folks, McCarthy didn’t get the boys ready to play today. This is going to be ugly, but don’t let it ruin your Thanksgiving.

11:47 AM:  No matter what happens today or the rest of the season, McCarthy has to fired. To still be making the same stupid penalties this late in the year is just flat-out poor coaching. The Packers will never return to the prominence with this nincompoop in charge.

11:57 AM:   No surprise there, we need to get inside the five for Mason Crosby to be in field goal range. And we thought we were embarrassed in Tampa.

12:04 PM:  Nick Collins saves a reeling defense. Now we can’t stop the Lions?! Need a big play on offense now. Take a shot deep.

12:11 PM:  The Packers made them pay for the Stafford interception and we are tied. Now the defense needs put the clamps on the young QB.

12:17 PM: Why can’t we stop the run now? Thank God for a drop because Bush got burned again.

12:19 PM:  That is simply unbelievable! Another special teams penalty! How does Shawn Slocum show his face at 1265 Lombardi Ave? Jordy was an idiot for catching it too. This kind of stuff will be too much to overcome today I think.

12:33 PM:  Might be in FG range at the 3.

12:34 PM:  Miracles never cease. 10-7 Packers. Come on defense. Three-and-out!

12:37 PM:  This is just simply unbelievable! This is even bad by Packers’ standards. What would Lombardi do? I guarantee it wouldn’t be pretty.

12:39 PM:  Another gift from Stafford. Sweet. Make it count now.

12:51 PM:  Why can’t we score TDs all of a sudden? This is getting to be a real problem. I chalked it up to a good Dallas defense two weeks ago. Against the 49ers it was masked a little because we led by 20 late in the game, but now its three games in a row. Big problem.

12:55 PM:  Well we don’t miss Al Harris in one department.

1:01 PM:  This game is much closer than it should be and the Lions get the ball to start the second half. I suggest we just kick it out of bounds as fast as possible so we don’t have time to make a penalty. If we kick it deep it will be a 20 yard return and a 15-yard penalty, which will be at least the 40 anyway.

The Packers should be up 21-7, though, so they have kept the Lions in the game. Any slip up like they had last week in the second half and they lose this game.

1:30 PM:  The Packers get a big play but go four-and-out. The fourth down play is what happens when you can’t kick a field goal. It’s official, McCarthy has lost faith in Crosby. Too bad it took so long.

1:43 PM:  That is more like it! What a pass! I thought it was picked off at first. 20-7. A little breathing room, but not much. Need another one real quick to take the air out of them.

2:06 PM:  Damn! We could have scored there and taken Rodgers out. Now we asking a lot of the defense again. But I guess it is their job.

2:09 PM:  Here we go again…

2:16 PM:  It’s going to be a TD, unbelievable. Throwing the ball all over the field and we run twice. You get what you deserve with that kind of play calling. The offense is going to have to make up for it now.

2:38 PM:  Finally, the dagger! How sweet the next ten days will be riding a three-game winning streak and sitting at 7-4. What can you say about the old guys on the Packers’ roster – Donald Driver and Charles Woodson? Incredible stuff today. Not to mention Aaron Rodgers, who just keeps rolling. The guy has basically played only two really bad games for the Packers has a starter and both were in Tampa Bay. Go figure?

Looks like GJ is getting too much double team action leaving other guys with single coverage. Jones is having a better year than last year. Now with Jordy healthy and Driver having another solid year, I think the offense will be clicking on all cylinders barring injury. Always have to include that disclaimer unfortunately! But, the Vikes would certainly be a different team is number 4 gets nicked and they have to go back to Tavaris.

#4 spent a little more time picking himself up off the ground yesterday then normal… just goes to show that the offensive line of the Vikes isn’t completely impervious to a good rush now and then. The times they got to #4 and caused him to “think fast” and get the ball out sooner than he wanted, he was still forcing throws… maybe, just maybe, the key to beating the Vikings is getting pressure with tight coverage… But then again, we may not get another chance this year but on the outside chance it does happen, I hope Dom puts together a scheme that keeps #4 running for his life. So far the scheme has only stopped AP and forgot about BF. Stop one and pressure the other is the key, not stop one and force the other to beat you, cause they will…

Wouldn’t it be great to make the Vikings nightmares come true? We meet them coming out of their playoff bye week, go to their house and beat them? Knock them right off their perch. I don’t even think I’d care if we got to the big game at that point, I’d be so damn happy I probably forget there was a Superbowl… Then the entire other side of my family would have to eat crow the rest of the year.

Lets worry about the Ravens, How soon we forget not putting away a terrible team like Detroit till very late. The only complete game of the year was vs. Dallas. Put Woodson on Mason and load up vs Rice. Aaron has to get the ball out. Something is wrong with Crosby or Slocum is tinkering with him too much. WTF Crosby couldnt get a touchback in an indoor stadium. Watch Poppinga on special teams he normally is the culprit. Hall is bad on ST as well.
Johnson should be the fullback all time and we need to use that FB roster spot for a halfway decent OT. Go Pack

after watching the Ravens….they are the best 6-5 team in the NFL. Rice is a beast! Their D is creativew and they are NOT the LIONS ….if we beat them we are in line to make a strong playoff run. This IS the test!!

The saints picked up Mike McKenzie….why isnt he in GB with Al Harris hurt?

  • RayL

    McKenzie gets a INT

  • RayL

JB has 0 career INT’s for the record…

  • Dan

Ray, I agree. We should have signed McKenzie. I seem to recall someone posted that we should have signed McKenzie the night Harris went down. Would have given us much better depth at CB.

As for Crosby’s FGs, I wish Slocum wouldn’t have changed his kicking style in the offseason. I would rather have a better FG kicker and give up 5 yards in distance.

BTW, glad to see the newspapers are finally picking up on MM switching back to the West Coast offense during the Dallas game as a big part of the Packers taking fewer sacks and winning the last three games.

West Coast offense is the key to taking Lewis out of this week’s game.

I was the guy who wanted Mckensie. It seems he may be having trouble of late lasting a season but when he’s out there he’s vicious. I used to love him against Moss when he was with us. He looks good tonight.

McKenzie left GB much like BF did, I doubt he would have come back to play for GB again anyway without asking for some outrageous requests. He was disgruntled with the Pack when he left to N.O. originally. But then again, a job is a job – just my opinion…
