Packers-Falcons Game Blog

12:05 PM:  Late start, Packers kick, blitz doesn’t get home, long run by Turner, Falcons on the move. The shootout is beginning.

12:17 PM: OK, time to settle in. Glad we held them to three but the offense failed to get a first down.

12:20 PM:  Dumb play by Bush cost the Packers five yards. Might be one of those days folks.

12:22 PM:  It’s going to be a shootout so I’m not too worried yet. We will be down at least ten though I think after this drive. Just a hunch.

12:24 PM:  Glad I’m not a cop. Zombo with the sack. Nice punt return called back by illegal block on Nance. Damn, could have changed the momentum of this game.

12:39 PM:  Packers waste a great opportunity to get a lead. Still can’t get a third-and-one. So much for the Nance experiment.

12:42 PM:  Tramon Williams needs to get his head straight. What is this dancing around crap? Catch the ball and run.

12:47 PM:  A big play by Brett Swain and another first down. Nice little drive going. Offensive line needs to step its game up though.

12:52 PM:  Worst play call of the year by Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers fumbles. Hope he’s not dead. That will be the turning point of the this game. We played them hard though. 7-4 with a home game against the 49ers coming up at least we’ll be 8-4. Simply no way you win a game when you make a stupid mistake like that. Why are we trying to do something we can’t do? They say the definition of insane is doing the same thing over and over…is McCarthy insane? I’m beginning to wonder. Now Rodgers has a wrist injury.

12:57 PM:  Falcons rolling down the field with the greatest of ease. What a revolting turn of events.

1:00 PM:  2nd and 19 and we can’t stop them. Defense facing a real offense this week. Then McCarthy didn’t challenge the play and the Falcons get a huge break. This baby is over folks.

1:08 PM:  Could not have been any easier for the Falcons. 10-3 and complete domination for the Falcons. We are lucky to be this close.

1:28 PM:  Rodgers is hurt, so what do you do, empty the backfield. WTF? Got nine but we all know we can’t gain one yard, in fact we lose 8! Take Rodgers out now before he gets hurt.

1:30 PM:  This is clearly the worst the Packers have looked since the Miami game. Without a running game the offense is back to being clueless. 17-3 in about five minutes folks.

1:38 PM:  Defense held, sort of doing its part. Can the offense please do something. We can’t run the ball at all so quit trying. 2-minute offense from here on in.

1:41 PM:  Mike McCarthy is a complete idiot!

1:42 PM:  Mike McCarthy is a complete idiot!

1:45 PM:  Rodgers finally gets his touchdown. McCarthy must have him on his fantasy team or something. Still I don’t have much confidence in the outcome.

1:54 PM:  Defense gives up a big third-down play again. Now they have a chance at redemption…wait for it…not to be. Falcons on the move.

1:57 PM:  Hopefully this is a wakeup call for the Packers. We better find a way to run the ball or any playoff hopes may be in serious jeopardy.

2:06 PM:  Turner walks in. Rodgers needs to make the step in his career today. Is he good or is he great? Would help if he had a Edgar Bennett or Dorsey Levens or Ahman Green to help him out. His leading rusher today is Nance with zero yards on one carry. Jackson’s -3 yards on 6 carries ain’t cutting it.

2:14 PM:  Packers’ version of the wildcat, five wide and Rodgers up the middle.

2:19 PM:  One team can run it, the other can’t. That was what the announcer said and that is the difference in this game. Message sent. The Packers are not who we thought they were.

2:20 PM:  Let’s go Eagles, let’s go!

2:25 PM:  I guess what I’ve been saying all year finally comes true. You have to be able to run the ball to win in the NFL. Especially in big games. Lesson earned, let’s see if it is a lesson learned.

2:37 PM:  Packers choked today.

2:40 PM:  That is the greatest play of Aaron Rodgers’ career! Can the Packers make it hold up?

2:42 PM:  See you later. Might not be until Tuesday. I need time to process this.
