NFC there for the taking

The Green Bay Packers are hell-bent on getting to the Super Bowl this year and judging by the first two weeks of the season, the path to Super Bowl 50 suddenly looks less daunting. While there may be five 2-0 teams in the NFC right now, the main threats to the Packers, Seattle and Dallas, are 0-2 and significantly injured, respectively.

If you were to visit one of the best sports betting sites, you would find the Packers as the favorite to win the NFC and to advance to the Super Bowl. Of course Aaron Rodgers is the main reason the Packers are the favorite, but a quick look at the other teams in contention makes it even an easier pick.

Seattle, 0-2 – The Seahawks haven’t looked terrible but also haven’t been able to win. Losing at St. Louis, who in turn lost to the woeful Redskins, doesn’t instill confidence if you are a Seattle fan. After two straight Super Bowl appearances, fatigue and attrition may be the reason for their decline. They will be 2-2 in two weeks after wins over the Bears and Lions, which helps the Packers, but they will have to make up three games on the Packers to take back home field.

Dallas, 2-0 – The Cowboys are in survival mode now that Dez Bryant and Tony Romo are out until November at the earliest. Romo more likely out until December. They may still make the playoffs because of their division, but they no longer strike fear in anybody.

Philadelphia, 0-2 – The Eagles torched the Packers in the preseason but have looked horrible the first two weeks and head coach Chip Kelly might have a mutiny on his hands. I will be shocked if they turn this around.

Arizona, 2-0 – This is the team that could cause the Packers some problems. They are a well balanced team on both sides of the ball and extremely well coached. Best move the Bears ever made, if you are a Packers’ fan, was not hiring Bruce Arians when they had the chance. The Packers play at Arizona on December 27 in a game I hope isn’t for home field advantage in the playoffs.

Carolina, 2-0 – The Panthers are good on defense but are a one man show on offense, and I don’t think Superman Cam Newton will be able to carry that team for 16+ games. Injury or fatigue will take its toll.

Atlanta, 2-0 – I had to put the Falcons in here because they are 2-0. No one saw that coming. But with their new head coach, Dan Quinn, they are a different team this year. I fully expect them to beat the Cowboys this week to move to 3-0. We’ll see if they have the staying power without an overly talented roster.

I would do a best of the rest but there aren’t any. It’s the Packers or one of the above. My bet is on the Packers.
