Tripped up in San Fran?

The Green Bay Packers are three and zero to start the season and have every reason to be feeling good about themselves. However, like the Dynamic Duo, there is always a nemesis lurking around the corner looking to take them down. In this case it is quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The Packers’ defensive coordinator may own Bears’ QB Jay Cutler, but Colin Kaepernick owns Dom Copers. This year the 49ers and Kaepernick have looked horrible in losses to the Steelers and Cardinals after shocking the Vikings on opening day. Does that make them a pushover for the Packers? I think not.

I picked this game to be one of the Packers’ three losses for the season and I can’t see any reason to change that pick. The Packers are about as banged up as a team can be through three games and the 49ers are desperate. I look for the 49ers to go back to what they do best under Kaepernick and that is run the read option to death on the Packers.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson ran wild on the Packers two weeks ago and while it didn’t result in a win, it certainly shows the vulnerability of the Packers against running quarterbacks. Kaepernick averages 100 yards rushing per game against the Packers and I expect the 49ers to run him early and often.

On the west coast after two huge prime time wins, I have a hunch the Packers come out flat. They will keep it close but Kaepernick stays undefeated against the Packers. 49ers 38, Packers 31.
