Cowboys dominate flailing Packers

The Aaron Rodgers nosedive continued in full force tonight and the Packers were thoroughly dominated on both sides of the ball by the surging Dallas Cowboys. Rodgers threw one of the ugliest interceptions you’ll ever see by a guy not named Brian Hoye and also fumbled inside the Cowboys five yard line when the Packers were still clinging to hopes of a comeback. Then, when Morgan Burnett picked off Dak Prescott three plays later, Rodgers couldn’t even complete a pass and the Packers had to settle for three.

There is no way anybody could have foreseen such a drop off in Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy’s once explosive offense. The offense is stale and combine that with pathetic quarterbacking you get what we had here tonight. McCarthy used to be a considered an offensive genius but he has not been able to adjust to Rodgers’ poor play nor help him improve his play. This is a team in shambles right now.

On defense the Packers’ vaunted run defense was exposed as a sham with Zeke Elliott rolling up 157 yards and most of that was gained with ease. The Packers’ defensive line was totally overpowered by the Cowboys offensive line in a stunning display of ineptitude. Prescott had all day to throw but most of the time didn’t need it, the ball came out fast on the on the money, unlike Rodgers, who continues to dance around in the pocket while his receivers struggle to get open.

The Packers face the lowly Bears in in four days with a chance to get their fourth win but after that it could be a while until they get their next one. There is no way they can keep up the high-flying Falcons in week 8 , they they face the Colts and Andrew Luck before going on a three game road trip. I can easily see a three or four game losing streak in that stretch.

To make matters worse the Packers lost three more players to injury when Damarious Randall, Davante ADams and Bryan Bulaga left the game with injuries. They were already without Sam Shields and Quinten Rollins on defense and James Starks and Jared Cook on offense.

This was the worst home loss of Rodgers’ career but with no signs of improvement that may not be the case for long. Seattle and Minnesota will be here in December. The Packers have 11 games to salvage the season but there is little to suggest they are capable of doing so. Might be time to rebuild in Green Bay.
