Packers refuse to lose

The Green Bay Packers moved to 5-0 by roaring back to beat the Falcons 25-14 last night. Well, maybe it wasn’t a roar back, maybe more like a slow death for the Falcons. Atlanta was supposed to solidify it’s place in the NFC playoff mix but instead were embarrassed again on their home turf.

The Falcons had revenge on their mind and had a 14-point lead in the first quarter. Should have been game over. I thought it was game over, especially when Chad Clifton went down with a severe hamstring injury. The Packers’ winning streak appeared in serious jeopardy.

The only problem for the Falcons is the Packers are by far the better team. The Falcons were unable to deliver the dagger and the Packers just chipped away at the lead and then took it for good in the third quarter. Tack on a TD and a field goal and it’s an 11-point win for the Green & Gold.

There is no love lost between these two teams and the Packers certainly have the upper hand. To use B.J. Raji’s term, the Packers abused the Falcons for a second time in 10 months in their own home and on national TV. Even if the Falcons find a way to right the ship, any future game this year would most likely be at Lambeau and in January. Good luck with that!

Nope, the Falcons are done. They had their chance but like ole J.R. once said to Cliff Barnes: “If you couldn’t get me this time, you never will”. Up 14 on your own turf and lose by eleven? Ouch!
